Before committing to full-time service as a mediator, Frank Ray had more than four decades of state and federal court trial experience.  During his time as a trial lawyer, Frank  repeatedly demonstrated his skill as a negotiator who secured reasonable settlements for his clients. For example, he achieved settlement for his manufacturing client after two-weeks in a federal jury trial involving UCC claims.  The settlement of this case extricated the manufacturer from insolvency.  During his trial career, for his clients, he obtained literally hundreds of settlements or judgments, including settlement of a multimillion-dollar claim for insurance coverage by a major Ohio business against its insurer.
